Thank you to the record number of students who submitted essays this year- almost 400 entries from Bentonville High School, Heritage High School in Rogers and Rogers High School along with a number of home schooled entrants.
Winners of the scholarships were:
In first place and earning a $500 scholarship from the Rotary Club of Rogers was Manoj Seeram from Rogers Heritage High School. Manoj is in Mrs. Kristie Daut’s 12th grade class and his essay was entitled “Not Just Words”.
In second place and earning a $250 scholarship from the Rogers Public Library Foundation was Sophia Russow from Bentonville High School. Sophia is in the 12th grade class of Jennifer Jones. Her essay was titled “Lifestyles of the Normal and Boring”.
The other eight students finishing in the top ten essays from a field of 375 essays were:
Eric Tucker of Mrs. Cantey’s 12th grade class at Bentonville High School
Linden Cheek of Ms. Jennifer Jones’ 10th grade class at Bentonville High School
Megan Laakman of Mrs. Cameron’s 10th grade class at Rogers Heritage High School
Adrienne Pierce of Mrs. Cameron’s 10th grade class at Rogers Heritage High School
Rebecca James of Ms. Jovita Stevens’s 10th grade class at Rogers High School
Amanda Dias-Jayasinghe of Mrs. Lora Pate’s 10th grade class at Bentonville High School
Blake Lee of Ms. Parks’ 9th grade class at Bentonville High School
Lauren Raines of Mrs. Cameron’s 10th grade class at Rogers Heritage High School
